The rules, in five minutes
HODLTRUMPS is a two-player NFT card game. Build a legal deck, then duel a friend or the AI over nine turns. Highest score after turn 9 wins.
π The four stats
Every memory token has four stats. Each turn a random stat is rolled, and the card with the higher value on that stat wins the turn.
Boosts are written +X%/+Y = β+X% to a % stat (F/D), or +Y to an integer stat (I/K)β.
π Rarities & medals
Medal tier is set by supply β the smaller the supply, the stronger the bonus:
π Building a deck
A legal deck is 12 cards max:
- 3 different Rares
- 3 different Uncommons
- 3 different Commons
- up to 3 different Medals (optional)
That's 9 memory tokens (played once each across the 9 turns) plus your medals. Your FLIP card is separate β everyone has one.

- (Optional) Flip: before any card is played, either player may play their one FLIP card.
- Play a token: each player commits one memory token (you can't play the same card your opponent plays that turn).
- Powers & medals: add boosts from your powers/medals.
- Roll: a random stat (F/D/I/K) is chosen.
- Resolve: the higher value on that stat wins the turn = 1 point. Ties re-roll.
After nine turns, the highest score wins. Who goes first alternates each turn.
π€ vs AI: a rule-based bot β it plays negative cards while flipped (they invert to strong), saves strong cards for late unflipped turns, and only spends powers/medals when they help its duel. Its card is hidden until you roll.
π The FLIP card
Each player must play their one FLIP card once per match, at the start of a turn before any token is played.
- Once the first flip is played, all stats of tokens played after it invert (+ β β). The second flip un-flips.
- At least two duels must pass between flips (four with the PESSIMIST medal).
- Auto-flip: if nobody flips by turn 7, the game auto-flips for turns 7β9.
- Inversions apply first, then power/medal boosts stack on top.
β‘ Powers reference
Only rare cards carry powers; you may use up to three (one per rare) per match, each once unless refreshed.
π Medals reference
Up to three per deck. Some fire once, some multiple times, some each time a condition is met.
